The Eastern Phoebe is one of the first migrants to arrive in spring and one of the last to leave in fall — a tough, determined little bird with a lot of personality.

This is one of my all-time favourites. The bright, bold phoebe is a perfect match for this shiny black teacup with a rose interior — the combination just clicked. The bird has her back to us but is still very much aware we're there. I painted this for a special Teresa in my life.
