Most nuthatches are spotted upside down, defying gravity on tree trunks and branches. But every now and then, one decides to take it easy — and this one is perfectly content saucer-hopping in an upright position.

This painting is special to me because I used my Grandma's fancy tablecloth as the background — a nod to the Alice in Wonderland-style tea parties she introduced me to, a tradition I continue with my own children today.
